One of the major strong points of Cimarron Strip was it's superior line-up of guest stars. The quantity and quality of actors that appeared in each episode was truly impressive. During this period, there were very few shows on television, if any, that could line up the likes of, for example, Richard Boone, Robert Duval, Morgan Woodward, and Andrew Duggan all in one sitting. Unlike Cimarron Strip's allocation of over $250,000 per episode (which was a ton of money in 1967), the budgets of many other competing shows were just simply not big enough to accomodate both a large cast of top rated stars along with big production costs. With a "hand in glove fit" of actor to character role, and stellar performances by actors such as Telly Savalas, Richard Boone, Suzanne Pleshette, Broderick Crawford, Joseph Cotten, and Warren Oates (just to name a few), Cimarron Strip was able to project the high quality professional movie style image that it wanted.
Though many of these outstanding actors had either performed previously in other television programs, went on to future roles in movies and television, or even went on to Academy Award winning Super Stardom (Jon Voight & Robert Duval to name two), they will always be remembered for their contributions and character roles in Cimarron Strip. Whether they were cast as good guys, bad guys, or somewhere in between, the undisputable fact is that these great performers helped Cimarron Strip bring an "all-star-cast" and "feature length movie" effect to the television screen. In addition, this type of approach also helped to change and revolutionize television while viewing it in the 90-minute format.
